Deep tissue massage is a targeted therapy focused on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It's especially beneficial for chronic aches, tension, and areas of tightness such as the neck, shoulders, back, and legs.
Unlike a relaxation massage, deep tissue work involves slower strokes and firm pressure, often using fingers, knuckles, elbows, or forearms to reach deeper muscle layers. This technique breaks down adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, inflammation, or limited mobility.
It’s commonly used to treat issues like chronic muscle pain, postural problems, injury recovery, and repetitive strain. While the pressure may be intense, it should always stay within the client’s comfort level, with open communication between client and therapist being key.
Some soreness may occur after a session, similar to a post-workout feeling, but it typically subsides within a day or two, leaving the body feeling more open, mobile, and balanced.
Deep tissue massage not only relieves physical tension but can also support emotional release and overall relaxation, making it a powerful tool for both recovery and stress relief.
